Go-cart Making Day

Friends of ours organised a Go-cart making day for 24 September 2011. Xander and Sophie really counted down to the day, referring to it so often as Go-cart Making Day that Sophie and Lebo had a disagreement on the name of the public holiday, Heritage Day, held on the same day.

Jonathan helped me assemble all the required tools, according to the list we were given. On the day, I took the three kids. About 6 families made 5 go-carts. Everyone received help on their go-cart from the go-cart designer, Terry, and each other, and I also was helped by both my big kids. Xander was delighted to use the jig-saw, while Sophie did measuring, jig-saw work and lots of screwing in screws.

Because we ran out of split pins our go-cart couldn't be tested until the next day. I finished the push handle (using a broom handle), put on the rope, and attached the wheels securely for the test runs.
