It was a big rush getting ready because we went shopping for last-minute things, and then went to the slowest service restaurant in history, but we made it to Cherie's house before Auntie Helen panicked. Alexander watched Helen have her make-up on, and Sophie had some milky. Just before we left, Alexander was very sad because Helen went to the loo before him, but Daddy managed to cheer him up in the car. Mummy drove Helen and Grandma to the church, with Alexander and Sophie following with Daddy in the hire car.
Grandpa took the service in St Paul's, Port Alfred. Alexander performed his duty as page-boy, giving the correct ring box to each of Helen and Dominicue, with solemnity. Sophie made friends with her new auntie, Rauné, during the service.
There were photos outside the church and then on East Beach pier.
At the reception, Alexander loved the jazz band, joined Uncle Dominicue for his speech and loved pogo dancing with Mummy. He lasted until he had eaten his ice-cream, and almost immediately slid onto the floor to go to sleep under the table. Sophie was having such a good time being passed from auntie to auntie, on both sides of the family, that in the end Mummy and Daddy had to dance with her between them on the dance floor to get her to collapse.
