Alexander's first full day at Radford House was 15 August 2007, when he was 4¼ years old. He woke up early (6:20 - was supposed to be 6am), dressed, practised violin, had breakfast, said goodbye to Daddy and Sophie, and Mummy drove him to school in the Pajero. He was greeted by Teacher Elma and Teacher Eljo, and Mummy went home. He went to school about 3 days a week for a few weeks, and started full-time on 2 Oct, the start of the fourth term. Teacher Eljo went off on maternity leave after his second day, so the teachers of his joint grade 00 / grade 0 class are now Elma and Leigh. According to Xander there are 20 in the class, 9 of whom are grade 00 like he is. They do literacy, numeracy, Afrikaans, Zulu and computers as well as lots of fun action games, free play outside, stories and artwork.
On the first day he played with Nabeel, and from the second he referred to Michael as "my friend". Another poor boy got named "the one who was rude to me", because he called Xander a "naughty little boy" on the first day, "little" being the insult.
